Last but not least, meet Alice Youle! Alice went to undergrad at Haverford College and is currently studying how RNA structure impacts translation.

Outside of lab she loves to crochet, listen to T-swift, and she just started brewing beer!

Meet Jacob Horn! He went to Rochester Institute of Technology for undergrad and is currently studying translational reprogramming during infection.

Outside of lab Jacob is a fan of plants and scifi/fantasy books (we can confirm he gives excellent book recommendations!)

Next meet Leidy Vanegas Cano! She joins us from Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. For her thesis work she is studying the role of rRNA modifications in translational control.

She enjoys watching movies, hiking and doing cross stitch!

Meet Dana Beseiso! She went to Swarthmore College for undergrad. Currently she is studying 5’ UTR isoforms in cancer.

Outside of lab she enjoys activities on the river, cooking and walking around Ann Arbor.

meet Ben Pockrass! He joins us from Indiana University Bloomington. He is studying translation of membrane proteins, specifically CFTR, also in collaboration with the Hastings lab.

Ben has already completed three DART assays, including one during his rotation!

In his free time he enjoys movies!

Grace Eramo went to UNC Chapel Hill for undergrad and will be studying splicing in the 5’ UTR.
