Yup. I said this earlier today, but it was only a guess. Thanks for confirming it. It is no coincidence that of the 8 who came forward to do this, none of them are running in 2026. But they ran cover for some who are.

When Trump wants to pardon a drug trafficker, befriend a terrorist, or praise a dictator because they did something to benefit him personally, when confronted with their past crimes he always either minimizes them or claims that they were treated unfairly. While Republicans just go along with it.

At least Dems got a ceremonial vote on the ACA subsidies in the senate so Susan Collins can vote against her party on that knowing it won’t pass but she’ll be able to run on another vote that allows her to pretend to be a moderate. The deal is an in-kind contribution to Collins.

This reminds me of his pitch for Trump’s miracle cure “signature” vitamin supplements in 2009, which were available for a bargain price if you signed up for a membership with the Trump Network and submitted a urine test because they customized them to your needs. bsky.app/profile/atru...

It’s wild how MAGA falls in love with people like nepo baby developer Bill Pulte, who was born on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple, because he investigated Schiff, then he rolls out a plan for a lifetime of debt slavery with 50-year mortgages and they are somehow surprised.

It should be a basic minimum requirement of political leadership that you be an effective and persuasive communicator in the current era, able to tour the country to support your candidates and policies in public forums with real people. If you can’t do that, you aren’t a leader.

Was the possibility that Repubs would dig in and refuse to compromise because they don’t care about Dem priorities not considered before this began? If it was, was “calling attention to the issues” (the only thing achieved) worth doing this? Is a shutdown the only way to do that?

Anyone who believes that the Senators who voted for the non-deal did so without Schumer’s consent while he votes no for show is gullible & naive. You either do this with a plan and exit strategy or you don’t do it at all. There is a disconnect between Dem voters & Sen leadership.
