The biggest improvement over the last 2 generations has been animations and especially facial animations. But still, some games do look much better

The Hobbit movies look like video game cutscenes and my God does it look horrendous. I wish they could redo The Hobbit with the same care that LotR got but that will never happen.

I was oblivious to how boundary pushing Sega were in the 80s and 90s until a few years ago. Like Sega Rally and Daytona USA coming out in 1994 looking as great as they are and running at 60fps. Wizardry

I would much rather a new back to basics Ninja Gaiden game (or another character action game without the added rpg elements). NG is just so elegant in its simplicity with the right amount of depth and very little mechanics to worry about. And NG2's blood and gore made u feel like a force of nature
