Yes, a great show! We caught 2 sets on different nights at that Birdland run and thoroughly enjoyed. Hoping to see them again soon.

Yes, I love her orchestration of “Sue” - it is amazing. The McCaslin album version is pretty cool too, but the Blackstar Symphony arrangement is the best of both worlds.

Same here, also new to Maria Schneider. We recently discovered her when we saw the Blackstar Symphony in St Louis; the entire Blackstar album was performed, and her arrangement of “Sue” was the gem in the crown. We’re going to catch a couple of shows in New York at the end of the month!
