‘The Purple Rose of Cairo’ (1985) is a classic example of emotion overriding logic in storytelling. Mia Farrow is undeniably lovable, as she always is.

Woody Allen builds this fantasy world with such effortlessness. One of the better 80s romance films.

Some years ago, surfing #Instagram was kind of fun. You’d see the stuff posted by those you follow (only). Now both your home page and explore feed are over-randomised.

Videos and photos that are baselessly unrelated to my tastes pop up everywhere. So utterly stupid.

#TheMorningShow S01 has to be up there with the finest seasons of all time.
What it gets right, more than anything, is depicting systemic failure in dealing with predatory behavior. The characters are complex and self contradictory. Story runs effortlessly. Masterful work. #TVsky #AppleTv

Danny Boyle orchestrates poetic chaos.
#28YearsLater is fucking bold.

Boyle’s direction is so deliberately chaotic, messy and unpredictable, it’s almost like he’s showing off his control over the medium.

#MobLand - wow! For some reason, I didn’t pick this series up earlier but relishing every bit of it now. Brimming with strong genre moments. Tom Hardy is so so good (shocking). Guy Ritchie does not miss, does he?

Compulsively watchable.

I was wondering how a writer - director could live up to Past Lives. Of course Celine Song found a way.

A story that is inherently distinctive and novel has to keep reinventing to maintain its high standards. The moment it stops reinventing, it falls apart.
