ElBaradei is a progressive figure, but he will never shake off the wrongly perceived image about his role in the Iraq war.

3- And when Sisi staged a coup against Morsi, many Egyptian elites failed to defend democracy and sided with the military.
January 27, 2026 at 3:49 AM
The failure happened for three main reasons:

1- The movement removed Mubarak but failed to end the military's control over the Egyptian state.
2- Gulf countries poured in money to support movements that worked to oust Morsi, who was democratically elected.

I disagree that the revolution failed because it lacked a chosen leader or a head for the movement. I don't even believe selecting one would have been possible given the number of political players across the political spectrum.

I agree that the Egyptians were dealing with a bigger and more entrenched regime. The only resemblance lies in the early nature of the protests, but beyond that, the situations are profoundly different.

I think it is more than fair to say that the spontaneous, leaderless nature of the protests in Minneapolis bears resemblance to the early stages of the Egyptian revolution.

I’ll only believe their commitment to a consumer-driven economy when they start shifting resources from investment to households. They need to raise the household share of GDP. So far, their policies are nothing more than duct-tape fixes on a cracking dam.

Because all their talk about shifting to a consumer-based economy amounts to nothing. There are no concrete actions or meaningful economic or fiscal policy changes to move the economy in that direction.

I have a weird feeling we are signing neither Isak nor Guehi LOL
so I am not getting my hopes up at all.

makes me feel way better about the result and the performance of Liverpool against them. They are a very good team regardless of the outcome of today's match.

I don't think this is the real Paul Joyce.

a 90m Euro replacement for the prolific goal scorer Wilson. *Checks his goal tally with Newcastle last season*. WOW he scored 0 goals.
August 28, 2025 at 5:13 PM
It should. They are paying close to 90m Euro for him.

The defense is so leaky and we have one week left to add depth in the attacking department and a new partner for VVD. I mean hey im not one of those delusional fans expecting a new team to be firing on all cylinders right off the gates but still the defense is concerning.
August 25, 2025 at 11:25 PM
I don’t think the leaky defense is a big issue. It’s fixable. We just need to sign Guehi and, after scoring the second goal, calm things down. Instead of pushing too high up the field and chasing more goals, we should be more controlled and pragmatic when we’re already two or three up.
August 25, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Splash the cash on Guehi. He is more of a priority than Isak, I understand the lack of depth argumernt but this team has loads of goals in the midfield but not enough compusre and legs in the defense.
August 25, 2025 at 9:14 PM
nah the defense is leaky. Van Djik needs a new partner.
August 25, 2025 at 9:10 PM
I don't think Edwards and Hughes would leave Slot that short in the attacking areas especially in an AFCON year. we need at least one more attacker. Ideally two more.
August 23, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Guehi and Isak before the window is shut.
If Liverpool can't get Isak this window, they need to sign a versatile wing and try again for Isak in January.

Yeah, whenever I think of a not-for-sale statement, I always go back to this FSG one. Short, no fluff, and straight to the point.
August 19, 2025 at 11:07 PM
Honestly, I thought the statement would be harsher. That line about "we don’t foresee conditions being met" kindda surprised me. it still feels like they’re leaving the door a little open.
