That same billionaire will likely become the U.S.-based owner of TikTok, further consolidating control and shaping the narrative across a sprawling and increasingly captured media ecosystem.

But anyways, Mamdani’s win shouldn’t have you shaking in your boots. He won with a big tent — a multiracial, multicultural, multifaith, multigenerational coalition.

And there’s still room.

But when choosing a candidate, I never once said, “I wonder what the Rev. thinks,” in the same way, I don’t think he considers what young people like me wants when deciding who to platform or broadside.

But there’s also something to say about the disconnect between these timeworn mouthpieces and the younger, more progressive Black electorate: voters like me. I have a lot of respect for Reverend You-Know-Who, no doubt.
