It just seemed so half-assed, honestly. There's a lot of hits but all of them are (admittedly heavy) slaps on the wrists.

I guess it could be a payment for the intake process? You buy access to interviewer / interviewing process and ideally would just be able to download the datablob to do stuff with however and whenever, with a reference implementation avail for free?

Don't pass and get along much better with trans people.

If anything, it triggered my 'too good to be true' vaporware sense - seems like could be a great deal if you get enough operator time bundled in, for the sort of person willing to accept the compromises.

As I understand it, modern superGMs can and will play like that (especially in rapid), it's just that it's gettting somewhat easier to force drawish positions in most lines and computer chess forces people to be more universal players.

(And thus you have to appeal to less absolute principles about why violence and normalizing violence should be avoiding, and strategic / tactical considerations of what makes pragmatic sense to do.)

or something loosely tied to that and/or just stress - feels like those people ended up rethinking their approaches to life in a stress-informed way at some point.

I think it's probably largely that they're very different people in explore vs. exploit modes.

I get that - remember trying to read some of it and it just sort of blurring in my mind with everything he's ever said and just feel whacked over the head with how obvious he clearly felt 90% of it was.

Turning his preverbal and overdigested thoughts into words on the page requires a certain repetitiveness and gives a certain roteness to it as he circles the drain to try to add marginal value. All of which are common pain points from slop, but doesn't make it slop itself, imho.

Yeah - do think the ephemera part of it is a big one. Beyond that... Did go and read a good amount of the arbital corpus - didn't feel like it was slop so much as it was - forced? A lot of it feels like he's been thinking about it in the same way for so long that (1/2)

And also a way to make it look less political, and make the eventual result more 'inevitable'. The shadow docket really gives them a lot of leeway to manipulate public perception like this. I wish there was a seperate body that referred cases to SCOTUS w/ deadlines to stop this chicanery.

I don't think it particularly requires being a giant asshole, but it definitely seems like it's going to be disproportionately assholes out of general selection effects.
And so the free speech argument should be substantively "They've shown they can't be trusted to care about other factors so..."

I remember almost liking the miller test framing of obscenity, but in real life people are terrible at considering factors other then the prurient interest one and judges just sort of handwave past the other two. Pornhub has some good stuff too, it's just... yeah. The MVP of porn is... rough, yes.

(And generally the big reason that people do this is more finding things like this is relatively time and effort intensive, such that the motivation is more "I don't have the energy to find something new or thought intensive fun, or people to do things with, and I've run out of the usual stuff")

IME the research costs for finding more good media tends to explode pretty quickly once you get past the most obvious / pre-explored stuff. That being said, there's ~no excuse not to e.g. look for youtubers or fanficcers or things you'd be happy endorsing first.
