Just a regular 'ole lefty lady. I primarily use bsky to get news/info (politics, science, health) from primary sources and opinions from actual experts. Love books, cats, bluegrass, cooking and all things outdoors, including foraging.
I volunteer at a food pantry in WV. Normal day (3 hours) is 15-20 ppl, yesterday: 55. Crimson red county in the reddest of states, exactly 0 of my (90% white) customers were blaming Dems.

Lots of folks expressing feelings of personal betrayal by Trump, though. 🐆

Or maybe they did their job and this was the best they could come up with... I.E. what will this month's pretend 22K get revised DOWN to in the footnotes of next month's report? 😬

Paramount and everything they fund or broadcast is now dead to me, and I'm guessing I'm not alone in that.

Paramount should talk to Target Corp. about how well this kind of thing goes...

Uh... any idea what's up with the FoxNews polling adding up to 132%? (Other than them just making up numbers again, which is always my first assumption)?

I work at a food pantry, and many of my seniors have to jump through semi-annual paperwork hurdles to get their (wait for it)... $23/month of SNAP.

The past decline is no surprise when a "benefit" is burdensome to access and nearly worthless anyway.

That's only get worse now, on a mass scale.

I know this is bad, but there's also something hilariously karmic about it too, given our reluctance to address climate change in any meaningful way.

For anyone insterested, here's the poll results with links to methodology and questions:

Snap polls: More Americans oppose than support the U.S. bombing of Iran | YouGov
YouGov has run multiple polls to gauge Americans' response to U.S. warplanes bombing nuclear sites in Iran on Saturday. 35% of U.S. adults approve of the bombings while 46% disapprove.

Call your closest 24-hour emergency vet; many will offer that kind of advice based on symptoms assessment over the phone.

Another possibility: Trump is so dementia-diminished that he cannot function or speak coherently for very long and thus needed an excuse to withdraw after only a couple hours.

Sundowning, maybe?

Not advocating for an insider at all; just think that realistically it would need to be someone with significant name recognition, like, say @michaelfanone.bsky.social. Would love to see an outsider with some moral backbone jump in!

100% agree, must be somebody highly visible (and capable of fundraising) if not already active in VA politics at any level.
June 14, 2025 at 4:40 PM
Uh, this is a Senate race, not some small congressional seat. It will likely take an established, highly visible and/or very well-funded challenger to unseat him.

C) Both.

Virginian here; he is losing his Dem supporters for both reasons. We know, no matter how he tries to spin his support for Trump's people & policies.
June 14, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Yes and many of his constituents (at least everyone I know in my own circle locally) are hoping the Dem party offers us a primary alternative.

More bizarro media sanewashing. Hegseth is a **TV personality** & narcissist; of COURSE he can be charming and put on an act. Talking/listening well has nothing to do with competent execution.

He's totally unqualified and a complete security failure. That's (still) the real story.

Well if he really did do something illegal to help Trump win the election, then he isn't entirely wrong...

And only until June 9th (if I read the order correctly).

This is both hilarious and sad - you might want to actually read what he wrote, or any of the many other sources writing about why overriding the parliamentarian matters for the budget bill.
