Alan Wake 1 has a fair amount of combat that got a bit tedious for me towards the end. The second game has absolutely the right amount though, really feels like a small number of encounters that are heavily built up with suspense.

We have to keep doing this. We have to do this with books and films and games and any meaningful media. Recognize that it's skillfully crafted, recognize the meaning it has to you, and do the terrible math of weighing it against who created it and what they have done.
