I stand corrected, still messy from the race director to keep it under double yellows with no intent to clear up the track until it got worse.

Not to mention that the whole situation was a mess. The mirror was on the racing line. If it warrants a double yellow then deploy a safety car to clean it up and go back to racing conditions. But it took 2 punctures and then another 2 laps before the safety car. The stewards should do better.

I’m not arguing against the severity of the penalty, but it should be applied equally. Sainz didn’t lift either, and didn’t receive the same penalty. Verstappen did lift but didn’t lose any speed, which is just showing the slighted of intent. Double yellow means slow down and be ready to stop.

Some consistency would be nice though. If this is such a harsh penalty then it should apply for all on the grid that did not slow down. And do away with the show of intention, just black and white did you slow down or not.
