We have a little anonymous moderated Padlet where students can leave comments about Rollama... It always gives us a great boost to know that we're making a difference.

I analysed 10,000,000 games in our database to find the 5 hardest topics...

Independent practice is a given - it's the core of Rollama.

We designed the system to be as 'hands-on' or 'hands-off' as each teacher wishes.

Set up the accounts and let the students practise as independently as you like.

All our games include 3 difficulty levels and a medal target set at around 70% pass rate, based on analysis of millions of results in our database. Students need to aim for a high level of success to consider a skill as 'passed'.

We also encourage weekly celebration with our home page feature in the teacher dashboard, and weekly summary by email every Monday, to show which students applied the most effort, and who earned the most medals.

3) Regular reviews of learning

All our games give instant feedback to students, and detailed, easy-access results for teachers.

We have four multiple-choice question game modes, with subtly different scoring mechanics and time-limits (and graphical themes to keep things fresh).

2) Questioning
May 21, 2025 at 3:14 PM
Our 17 game modes can scaffold independent practice - here building up 'shun suffix' spellings by increasingly difficult formats, from:

1. multiple-choice questions
2. card sorting
3. fill-the-blank

The scaffolding is gradually removed as students approach mastery.

We sequenced our Quests with tightly-focused lists of exercises. Teachers can treat these as small-step consolidation; by mastering these small goals, students free up their working memory to avoid overload.
