Sad to hear this. I learned a great deal from his impressive body of work. On an anecdotal level, I once had a very nice lunch with him in Saarbrücken. He couldn’t recall the German word for vinegar (“Essig”) while ordering, so I translated it for him into his native language.

Thanks Nick! The artist is William Turner. Once I've figured out how to do captions in Substack, I will add artist names and descriptions to all the paintings I've used. They all have a link with the content of their respiectuve posts.

The latest additions were Uruguay, Brazil, and Spain, all three World Cup winners. Not that it matters replication-wise, but just something I noticed.

Hi M., we plan to run the study in multiple languages, so part of the effort will be geared toward norming linguistic stimuli from different languages.
