In the UK, we’d describe today’s morning light as autumnal. What do people in the US say? It’s Fall-ish?

Been over to X (so you don’t have to) and it’s mainly people posting pictures of cashew nuts asking ‘Do you know what this is?’ End of days, end of days

They drink so much champagne at work it explains why they call it the Bar.

Thanks to a friend pointing it out, I’ve realised that I put obscure Doctor Who references in most things that I write. Not even aware I’m doing it most of the time…

Cheeky first two tiles in today’s Connections…

Wow that’s a bit of a shock - in a good way - on a Sunday afternoon.

Hallow Road was a tense and absorbing mystery with a stellar performance from Rosamund Pike. You’re in that car with them, desperate to reach the destination and the answers at the end of the road.

The main thing that seems ‘criminal’ to me is that this is a volunteer role - and not only that you have to provide legal checks on the content, research everything and ideally have a degree.

Really out of order - and glad that @writersguildgb.bsky.social are promoting ‘free is not an option’.

‘Fair use’ usually means using a small quote - not the whole fricking book. Nonsense ruling.

Flying but fun visit to #SeriesMania - great to catch up with people and see some interesting master classes with Sally Wainwright and James Norton.

#TheTraitors was fabulous TV with so many twists and so much drama. It wasn’t the team I was rooting for at the end - but still so much joy.

And we think it’s bad with missing Doctor Who…

@sohotheatre.bsky.social hi there - looking to book some tickets and it says your prices ‘are subject to demand’. That sounds like dynamic pricing - which puts me right off.

Speak No Evil. James McAvoy is superb in this Blumhouse thriller, charming, affable and yet somehow deeply unnerving. It’s a great thriller and will make you cautious about making friends on holiday…

The Trouble with Jessica. Enjoyed this dark comedy and didn’t predict the twists. Reminded me of a Notting Hill set version of Shallow Grave and that’s no bad thing.

The Thing (1982). An older film but included just because I watched it now. The effects still hold up pretty well and it’s a shocking and visceral base under siege story. Absolutely love the ending and how it has made people scrabble for clues in the film to explain it.

Thelma. A lovely idea for a ‘road movie’ as Thelma Post sets out to confront the con man who duped her. Engaging and charming.

Bring Them Down. Enjoyed this dark and sparse story of two warring families. It has a neat narrative trick that works really well (saying more would be a spoiler).
