Just finished this. Very enjoyable and clever (almost show-off-y). I get the impression JC is not a fan of Martin Amiss, or maybe that’s what he wanted me to think!
I’ve been excitedly waiting for this dahlia to open. This one is tall but stands up well. I want to take a good photograph but bad weather means this will have to do for now. When fully open the bloom has a rich orange-yellow centre. I love the colour and the slightly shaggy appearance.

Now that I am leaving FB and Meta, I will try and post here more often. Here then is a secret … I have always loved dahlias! This one is in our garden and has been flowering for months. A bit of the summer we are not having.
