In an ideal world I could agree with indexed tax brackets. But the reality is it’s easy to promise tax cuts, and political suicide to propose tax increases. So without bracket creep, you just get a ratchet to lower taxes and therefore lower services.

For unaccompanied minors there is pretty strict paperwork. You need to list exactly who is allowed to pick up children etc. I’m not sure they are supposed to allow random adults to mix with them on the flight, even if it’s the PM

The cynic in me is thinking that they tweaked the ECE subsidy the way they did, knowing it would push the official inflation figures down. It’s all about the numbers…

Time for an FOI? If they claim the info doesn’t exist, it would show they don’t actually bother measuring against their targets.

99% of fatalities in car accidents were wearing a seatbelt! Shock horror. More people die on the roads each year now than before seat belts were invented. Data bombshell /s

Has the government prescribed the wording of the referendum required for Māori wards? Can a council word it in such a way that it covers all types of wards? #malicious_compliance #nzpol

I’ve seen lots of suggestions for breville barista express. If you’re going that route I’d suggest the breville dual boiler instead which is closer to a professional machine. www.briscoes.co.nz/product/1091...

I’d love to see a mature conversation about tax. How it’s not a cost, but an investment in services society expects. What % of GDP different countries tax, and the corresponding services they get for that.

She said KiwiRail will run the ferries. Just expect ongoing port fees to their mates in the PPP, funding the port-side upgrades (off the books). See much cheaper /s

There is only a single track inspection car (EM80) for both islands. If love to know they are going to service both islands without a rail enabled ferry. www.kiwirail.co.nz/assets/Uploa...

The port-side upgrades will be “cheaper” because it will be funded by PPP, with ongoing fees, so less up front, and much more expensive over time.
