This led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the first piece of legislation signed by President Obama in 2009, which did 3 things, essentially making it illegal to pay someone less based on gender, and lengthening the amount of time they have to sue for restitution. See the law below: /3

I meant to post Lilly Ledbetter last week but life got away from me. So here she is! After working as the manager for the Goodyear Tire Co. for 2 decades, she discovered she had been paid significantly less than her male colleagues. She became an activist for equal pay and women’s rights /1

#AltCitizen Edith Nourse Rogers was a pioneer in Veterans Affairs, helping to elevate the status of women in the military, helped pass the G.I. Bill of Rights, and is considered the Angel of Walter Reed for her work on getting Vets the care they deserve when they come home.
