 The piping plover was one of the first birbs of #birbfest but I wasn’t able to do it at the time. But I’ve had those fuzzy little chicks in my head ever since. So I did this little guy yesterday and gave him some extra floof because floof.

Yellow-headed blackbird for today’s #birbfest
Fun fact: I was boiling kale today except i wasn’t because I forgot to put water in. I kept wondering why i was smelling burnt kale. All that kale lost, and a stinky house to boot. Enjoy your pancakes, bird.

A pair of violet-eared waxbills for #birbfest25. You can see I tried to give it a little Mucha flavor, but my impatience and missing compass (the pointy kind) thwarted my hopes. I still really like it, though.

Yesterday’s #birbfest2025 #birb was the #phainopepla or #silkyflycatcher . Since he’s known also as a goth cardinal, despite not actually being a cardinal, I ran with that idea for a yard or two. He’s also wearing black eyeshadow and nail polish, which of course you can’t see. #bird

Lesser masked weaver from my #Audubon calendar. I don’t think there’s a greater masked, so take it up with them when you confront them about that inappropriate hyphen. I meant to add something for scale cos he’s bitty, like my thumbnail. I couldn’t do his wings justice that small. #bords #art
