Yes I also see Trae Young, Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball as the three very available PGs at this year’s trade deadline, I think teams interested in trading for a PG will look at all three and there may be fewer than three teams interested in trading for a PG which creates a game of musical chairs

21-10

So I think Memphis if it wants to get someone good for Morant will have to attach draft picks which Memphis has plenty of thanks to the Bane trade

I think this is where Trae Young ends up

Trae Young like Morant isn’t a great three point shooter or defender but Young unlike Morant has character
November 24, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Nonetheless the perception of Tyler Herro is very different from the perception of Ja Morant

Every team on the league would be happy to have Herro on their team, might not be willing to trade Miami what it would take to get him but they’d be happy to have him

Definitely not the case with Morant

Show this to people when they start blabbering about Kobe Bryant being the GOAT
November 24, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Detroit will be needing to give a big extension to Jalen Duren this upcoming offseason, Jaden Ivey also going to be a restricted free agent… really do not see Detroit being remotely interested in paying Porter Jr almost $41M next season

I am sticking with my Clippers trade prediction
November 24, 2025 at 12:58 AM
But Tyler Herro >>> Ja Morant

This is my point, I don’t think Morant has trade value
November 24, 2025 at 12:54 AM
If you are Atlanta and you are observing how well you are playing without Trae Young, and you know you and Young are super far apart on an extension, and you maybe think you can re-sign Norman Powell at something of a discount, and are at the very least wanting 1sts for Young… seems like a good deal
November 24, 2025 at 12:17 AM
But Powell is like 32 years old and needs a new contract, not sure giving this dude three years, ~$100M next offseason is the best decision but someone will do it

I think Miami is very obviously positioned to trade for a big name assuming the league lets them trade Rozier
November 24, 2025 at 12:15 AM
Right, Atlanta won’t want Morant, I am thinking:

Trae Young to Memphis

Ja Morant to Miami

one or two 1sts from Memphis + one or two 1sts from Miami + Norman Powell + Terry Rozier to Atlanta

all three teams stay below this year’s luxury tax line

Not sure Miami would need to give up any 1sts
November 24, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I mean we sit here and say “Ja Morant is extremely immature/toxic” and “Morant has been bad for over a year now” and “Morant can’t shoot” and “Morant has destroyed his team’s institutional culture” and “Morant doesn’t play defense” but we think Memphis can still get something good for him?
November 24, 2025 at 12:09 AM
But if you are Memphis and you have turned Desmond Bane and Ja Morant into Trae Young and Cedric Coward (who is infinitely less expensive than Bane) + whatever 1sts you don’t need to attach to Morant in order to get Young… isn’t this a win?
November 24, 2025 at 12:07 AM
I mean if Miami can get Morant + filler for Norman Powell + Terry Rozier, would Miami do that? I keep seeing speculation that Miami is interested in Morant but I am skeptical
November 24, 2025 at 12:05 AM
Yes I think Memphis will need to attach one or more 1sts to Morant if they want to get anyone good

I mean give me a list of teams that have the matching salaries for a Morant trade that would actually want Morant… who are these teams? I am not sure they exist
November 24, 2025 at 12:04 AM
Substitute Trae Young for Ja Morant, isn’t Memphis suddenly pretty good? Seems like the infrastructure you need around Young is already in place in Memphis
November 23, 2025 at 11:41 PM
But yeah, Memphis front office definitely wants to trade Morant sooner rather than later, regardless of what anyone says imo
November 23, 2025 at 11:40 PM
When you consider that Memphis had built its roster around a ball dominant G who is bad at defense… doesn’t it make sense to add 1st round picks to Ja Morant in exchange for either LaMelo Ball or Trae Young?

Don’t think either Charlotte or Atlanta wants Morant, would need to include a third team
November 23, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Clippers are wanting to park John Collins over in the corner to shoot corner threes in order for their offensive system to work but John Collins is incapable of being this player

But Michael Porter Jr is theoretically this player

And the Clippers don’t have their 2026 1st so they can’t tank
November 23, 2025 at 7:48 PM
Amazing that there so many people who think that a person is “stupid” for thinking that leaving a 9-3 UConn team out of the CFP constitutes a “travesty”

Says a lot about the nature of sports fandom
November 23, 2025 at 7:43 PM
Here you go:

Porter Jr + Tyrese Martin + either Ziaire Williams, Day’Ron Sharpe, Cam Thomas, or Haywood Highsmith to the Clippers

2030 Clippers 1st + expiring contracts (John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic) + Bradley Beal (owed ~$5.6M next year, $0 after that) to Brooklyn

Clippers might do this
November 23, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Hmm… I am looking at what the Clippers are trying to do with John Collins, thinking Porter Jr would work way better for them

So, Porter Jr + filler for John Collins + Bogdan Bogdanovic + 2nd round picks works

Collins + Bogdanovic = both contracts expire after the 2025-26 season
November 23, 2025 at 7:34 PM
I will be very surprised if a team trades draft pick compensation with contracts that expire at the end of the 2025-26 season for Porter Jr
November 23, 2025 at 7:29 PM
There are probably a few really bad contracts out there whose teams would trade for Michael Porter Jr, would attach draft pick compensation

The trade I have in mind is Paul George + draft pick compensation for Porter Jr

Another is Patrick Williams + Isaac Okoro + draft pick compensation for him
November 23, 2025 at 7:27 PM
When is Porter Jr eligible to be traded? Hopefully Brooklyn trades him before he gets injured! Multiple season ending back surgeries in this dude’s career already. And he is owed a whopping $41M (!!!) next season. So, temper your expectations
