The old house is gradually coming together. Stone fireplace uncovered and repaired, cabinetry in, slate hearth has had a first treatment

Finally converting one of the original fireplaces in our 350 year old house. Striped the cement, fixed some structural issues, repointed, and a lovely slab of Welsh slate as a hearth. Almost ready for the new fire!

In my seemingly never ending quest to improve automation of the coal powered heating system in my 1675 house, I'm on the way to taming it. Smart alerts from various sensors tell us of probable "fire out" situations. If only I could automate loading the anthracite & emptying the clinker #oldhouselife

Trying to keep an old house (1675, which currently runs on anthracite coal) at a comfortable temperature is getting increasingly difficult. No fancy thermostat, so we've created some temperature sensors using Raspberry Pi Pico boards. Now, if only we could get every room to a normal temperature!
