To get some hard numbers on return rates, we have been marking moths, so that we can track their movement over the screen and estimate how often moths are counted multiple times by the AI. We did this by marking moths with paint so we can track their movements across pictures

We want the system to deliver accurate classification and counts of moths, but we don’t know how the AI will handle insects that move position, or return to the screen after a period of absence, perhaps even on a different night.
