⚓️ Just back from a #research cruise with the RV Wim Wolff.

🌊 On the Western Scheldt #estuary, we did 13-hour measurements of #hydrodynamics & #sediment transport.

🎓 The cruise is funded by #Delta-ENIGMA large-scale research infrastructure: delta-enigma.nl.

The Dutch government is planning to make devastating budget cuts on higher #education and #science. 🧪 Reason for all Dutch universities to participate in a relay strike that passes from city to city. Tomorrow, it will be my university's turn. 🪧 @woinactie.bsky.social

Happy to announce I'm starting as Assistant Professor at Wageningen University! My focus is on self-reinforcing #feedbacks in #hydrology & #environmental #hydraulics, for example in #rivers, #estuaries & #wetlands. 🌊🌿🌍 Looking forward to developing #research & #education in this exciting field 🧪⚒️

Now that was fun! 👨‍🏫 Just gave my first lecture of this new academic year at Wageningen University. A tough course to teach (#Geophysical #Fluid #Mechanics 🌊), but extra rewarding once you see students connect the dots! 💡
