Also: why is a newly elected public official, who won over half the votes in a three-way race, saying he has a "mandate to deliver" framed as "sheds conciliatory tone"?

Oh, @nytimes.com. Sigh.

“Democrats Raise Concerns” on speed dial?

Also: the killings (sorry: “lethal strikes”) are *not* against drug cartels in any way that can be proven. Also: the killings are illegal under national and international law. You’d think a headline would point these things out.

Mourning the loss of Diane Ladd. Genuine, generous, compelling.

I did know really know her — she was a family friend — but fondly recall a spirited conversation about Martha Mitchell, a role she felt she was born to play. I wish we’d seen it. It would have been something else.

Honored and thrilled to have been part of NOIRCON in Palm Springs this week, seeing old friends, making new ones, celebrating the noir heritage, and presenting awards to some of my heroes: the legendary film producer Bill Horberg; the great and good Richard & Kim of @esotouric.bsky.social .

"...social media, in some cases misleading viewers and amplifying political divisions..." is how @nytimes.com describes a video in which a becrowned Trump, flying a small plane, dumps hundreds of pounds of liquid shit on urban demonstrators.

More people marched today than at any time in the history of the United States.

For @nytimes.com, it was the 6th most important story.

They are making sure that those in power do not see what they do not want to see.

This is not what we were brought up to think of as journalism.

Happy birthday, Rita. Icon of cinema. Shown here celebrating on the yacht Zaca, which Errol Flynn loaned to Orson Welles for the filming of Lady from Shanghai.

In a year of atrocious @nytimes.com headlines, this may be the worst. (And that’s a very high bar…)
