In the first chapter of Strength to Love, Martin Luther King Jr. discussed the need to have a “tough mind and a tender heart.” By having a tough mind, he means that we should examine facts before reaching conclusions. Having a tender heart means that you are being loving and compassionate.

Life is full of days that are filled with joy, stress, happiness, and lots of other positive and negative emotions. Over the years, I've accumulated many reasons to despair, but today, I'm happy to say that my heart is filled with hope.

Journaling is a sacred pact between you and paper. It's a release of negativity and a way to logically let thoughts out. It's something I try to do often, not just for me, but also so soothe and strengthen my soul.
