A very good book that pulls together themes that have been bubbling in the mind for sometime. There are some thoughts on the 'so what' and an indication of the need to awaken the magic 25pc for a tipping point for change. More sign posting on where does one go next would be good - website maybe?

Our reality is of complex systems with tipping points and understanding this is important. As a person in society our journeys are often out of our control and serendipity often wins...a poor person is not to blame equally to a rich one not being responsible for their success - humility helps.

The original seems to be fixed with a hack ....but try it with filling now 😜

Think it largely comes down to the economics - in this case the tech bro platforms. Movement in the EU / Brazil etc. to regulate and control them + movement away from them by user base. If EU can build valid alternatives like b-sky then there is maybe hope. Would lead to massive infighting.......

Complete drivel - "the causes of the 50-year slowdown in scientific and technological progress in the US". - hard to make progress when you put truth out to pasture.....the fear of regulation here is palpable - an entire industry built on deceit could collapse.

Love this and this is great advice for everyone and especially for those that are neurodiverse. Would also add not to worry how others might prefer your brain to work.

Gets my blood pressure up just thinking about it 😭....making payments is also very painful. Imagine being in a physical store and having to wait for a code that doesn't work as the vendor doesn't accept that card type, but having to guess why 🤬

Unconventional, unexpected and most wouldn't - but absolutely wonderful 😊

Possibly more effective if everyone stops paying - in UK poll tax in 90s was cancelled due to such collective action. Fear is what allows this to continue - the house of cards would tumble very quickly.

It's all about abstractions - what and how information is passed between system parts. Most importantly, how features are exposed to the user - this is hard to achieve and takes experience, experiments and feedback.

A lot of government programmes also f...well don't do what they set out to do. A big issue is giving large chunks to large organisations that are not Agile themselves and becoming too large to fail. Attempts to create markets keep being effectively shutdown by lobbying - allow small to have a go!

The key I think here in it being culturally 'authoritative' - also an innate authority in having a deep voice, being tall etc. education is the best cure

Morning Mike, looks to be a fine day with Blue skies after a very windy night 😉

It's clippy mark 2 - "I see you want to insert a row, can I help you with that". Noooooooooo

Yes, but that Lounge chair is to die for 😊. Not surprised you don't have the capacity to sort the books with that bad boy to relax in!

It's not tech that's dystopian as such - it's the control of the narrative. The removal of the timestamps could allow history on twitter to be rewritten to support a position. The aim of Bluesky protocol to decentralise content aims to shift the control back to the creator a bit - this helps

Let me help unpack that with RodGPT: 'I'll not use the Washington post against Musk as we have a mutual agreement at the moment and also I shat the bed before the election'

"'Who controls the past,' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'"

Blurt, Blurts, Blurted - it feels impulsive to post. Also small nod to skeet 😉

I think it should say in the clearest of terms what it does - e.g. it generates something that is pleasing but not necessarily true and not checked for accuracy.

🤣

What the story is has no concern at all, only the narrative of the one telling it and the agenda being pushed. The negative slant could have been written about a host of other stories. In this case it could be a warning shot to maintain control - we can destroy you as fast as we have made you
