Because millennials are old now. We're the "boomers" to the next generation.
Even us zillenials (straddling the line between millenial and gen-Z) are sufficiently alienated from what young people do online, despite us growing up—even terminally online—with the internet.

It might make more sense to have a current() function that gets the value of a SPECIFIC property argument (not broad; eg. `margin-left` instead of `margin`) so you can grab a current value from anything. But... variables exist.
