This isn't the win you think it is.
Note what's happening with the Federal DA in MN. So many qualified ppl are leaving positions that there will be no one to prosecute cases. So, when the Trump Admin is the one that needs prosecuting...
In this case, filling high-ranking positions doesn't matter

I think Bezos sees the path to success for WaPo, and it lies in becoming more-or-less the MSM mouthpiece for MAGA. The WSJ has taken too independent a tack to fill that spot, and there are no others of national standing.

Come on @washingtonpost.com, you can do better than this.

(2/2) Seems to me the obvious solution to higher prices in the US is a system where we don't pay so much more for drugs, plus targeted policies to maintain our lead in drug development, not blaming Europeans for our shitty system.

Exactly. Shaheen voted to end the shutdown and negotiate these subsidies separately. Hasn't worked out, to the surprise of almost no one.
You won't fall for this again in the DHS funding fight, will you Senator?

Sorry, #2 is the issue. They naturally don't want to make an issue of something they aren't convinced is an issue to *their constituents*, meaning those outside MN.
January 24, 2026 at 1:55 PM
I think #3 is the issue. *We non Minnesotans* need to show them that this matters to *all* of us. Everything below this then falls in place.

For God's sake people, contact your Congress-critters as much as possible on this. Push them to vote the right way, and then thank them for it.

There aren't any paid protestors, but this scumbag has certainly been bought.
January 15, 2026 at 2:39 PM
The Insurrextion Act will be invoked soon no matter what.
There is no way out now aside from taking the protest to DC en masse and forcing Congress to act to rein Trump and his minions in.

There is no good solution here. Giving in and letting ICE terrorize your city is unacceptable.
Moreover, if Minneapolis doesn’t take the bait, Trump and his goons will be even more unchained the next time.

Yes, just like many Texans were taught as children about the War of Yankee Aggression.

Somehow, the fact that these self-professed titans don't see the irony and hypocrisy of their own statements gives rise in me to hope, not just a resigned chuckle.

No, doesn’t seem like it. But he is the most extreme of the lot, and many of the others probably do.

It is amazing to me that people think nativism, plus devotion to traditional values (as interpreted by the nazi party) and an ultra-conservative, state-sanctioned Christianity can be disentangled from the racist and genocidal outcomes in Nazi Germany.

I am crying you no tears from Hanover. Home of Dartmouth, and an island of spice-free food in the New England DSZ (De-Spiced Zone)
December 5, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Why isn’t the response something like “Stop being disingenuous, you twit. That was after he left the Presidency.”

Hosts are too nice here in the States. I prefer the British model, where you *will* be called out for garbage like this.
December 5, 2025 at 3:32 PM
It *must* come to Congress.

Oh, Petie. This isn't a battle you will win.
So please, by all means...
November 24, 2025 at 7:15 PM
If you would just give in, you would have a deal!

What Jeffries needed to make clearer, and what he was hinting at by pointing out that R-led states need this the most, is that the Dems have a strong bargaining position. Why would he ever offer less than what the Rs are currently considering?
