I keep saying this and people just kinda shrug. AI is mostly a marketing scam. It’s also a dangerous tool for amplifying propaganda. Like everything else done by computers, it’s garbage-in/garbage-out, except in this case it’s so obfuscated that the average person can’t see the garbage.

Calling your reps is only the 1st step. This excellent old Amnesty International advocacy video gives very practical next steps for turning that call into a relationship. It also offers great tips on how to keep the pressure up until you get what you want. This should be mandatory for civics class.

Ever since Google Reader died, I started using a site/app called Newsblur. It still lets me follow RSS feeds of news and blog sites, but you’re correct that a lot of them disappeared when Reader got canned.

It’s the 24/7 news cycle. We hear everything bad that happens everywhere, which distorts our perception of safety. Plus, most crimes and violence occur from people we already have a relationship with, so random stranger violence happens super rarely.
