Congratulations to Ryan Smith who wins the North Fork 50M in an as-yet-still unofficial course record of 6:51:50! Congrats to Leonard Strnad for finishing second, and to Kyle Fulmer for not DNFing after he missed a turn and running > 57miles to complete the course fair and square! 💚💚💚

Last night's run up Green Mountain. A good time was had by all. 💚

What's your Green Mountain descent time? In snow? In dry conditions? We reject this. It's poison.
If the world is a mess, and I think it is, I think a tremendous part of the problem is that we've quantified, or attempted to quantify, everything. How much money can you make? How many likes does your post get? Does the dating app think this potential partner is optimized for your desires? Is that 0.2 drop in your GPA going to ruin your chances for a job? I reject this. It's poison.

We've talked about the death of cohesive subcultures. That's tied to the collapse of the middle ground of cultural production. You can, with a lot of conscious work, revive the middle ground, or a version of it, through the rebirth of subcultures. I don't mean that you need to become a punk or goth. Your subcultures might not look like mine. They might not look like subcultures at all. The first step is stumbling into something new. Go to a show at Cat's Cradle or a rave at The Fruit. Go to a goth night at Chapel of Bones. Watch some weird movies or find a new band. Film your own weird movie or start your own band. Put up some flyers, pick up a skateboard. Do something you haven't done before and find some joy with others doing the same.
