My husband and grandson right there, to the sides and back of me, three of our kids and the baby sleeping on our daughter's back.

Read this!
For those who (like me) are not as adept at deciphering literary symbolism, I offer the following from the library's book jacket: As the novel unfolds, it becomes clear how much the people of Chicken Hill have to struggle to survive at the margins of white Christian America and how

Socialism won't work in an authoritarian context. That's Communism. But Democratic Socialism has worked in many nations of the world: Germany, France, Sweden... They've had good schools, low violent crime rates & low poverty rates until recently when right wing extremists began stirring up trouble.

I just finished A Calamity of Souls: murder trial of a Black man in 1969 for which all the evidence was fabricated. Highly recommend! Just started Empire of the Summer Moon: non-fiction history of the Commanche nation. Rare treat, a hardcover book to hold in my hands!

Well I recognized right away the 101 roadside hotels Google showed me, but I don't know if we ever went to Agate Beach. This view looking north looks vaguely familiar but I'm not sure. Maybe there's a hiking path out on that peninsula?

I don't really have a favorite spot for cold weather, but this is a picture I took (and posted) before Christmas when I feeling really cozy with my book and my fake fireplace on the TV.

Out here, when it's warm out! (That's me at the top right, watering a plant.)

1969 murder trial of a Black man based on what appears to be wildly fabricated "evidence". Great writing; I'm loving the characters!

Seuss is the absolute best. Yesterday I read The Lorax to my grandson.

I hear you. We actually do have another dog in the house, but it was my husband who raised that puppy while I was working full time. So I've gotten to enjoy the doggy world without [most of] the work!

We got to go to the Rose Bowl last year!
