If it weren’t approved before hand, why didn’t NJPW suspend Gabe as well? Likely because they approved the lines in cooperation with AEW. It’s fairly evident that Chris didn’t not run those past NJPW before saying them and NJPW was embarrassed.

Gabe’s was scripted and agreed upon in advance. Chris’s wasn’t.

Chris works for NJPW, this issue is not originating from the AEW side. The severity likely stems from NJPW’s embarrassment over disrespecting a business partner. In Japanese culture, showing proper respect is part of Japanese business etiquette. A perceived slight, can harm trust & relationships.
