Listening to the Black Friday Record Sore Day release of Role Model’s album “Kansas Anymore”. It was a good album. I may be an old person these days, but I know good music when I hear it.

NOTE: Side 1 is completely missing the label on my copy.

Taking it back to the old school - my high school days. I never owned this on CD, but my buddy Brandon did. He played it a lot! Big Head Todd and The Monsters with “Sister Sweetly”. It grew on me.

I was thrilled to pick it on Black Friday Record Store Day this year.

My year in review iTunes list. I know it’s not over yet, but this is the current status- top 1,000 listener for @guster.bsky.social and #ColdWarKids, which is pretty cool.

Second year in a row that Guster is my top artist and “First” is my top song.

My son bought this one during our record store day run. Paramore’s album “Riot” is exceptional.

Really enjoyed listening to this with him.

Listened to my hometown Flaming Lips’ “Yoshimi - Live At The OKC Zoo Amphitheater” Record Store Day Black Friday release. Technically the second time I’ve heard it because I was there when it was recorded. Absolute greatness.

Hope they release The Soft Bulletin next.

Final installment of the Dwight Yoakam box set. “…And Beyond” is a collection of cover songs from a bunch of killers. Elvis, Dead, Beatles, and Queen? Yes please!

A lot of fun!

Another night and another Dwight Yoakam album…this one is “Gone”. Really enjoying this country trip, and I may just stay on it for awhile. I’ll have the special cuts from this box set to listen to tomorrow.

Another night and it’s a second Dwight Yoakam album form the recent Black Friday Record Store Day box set…

“If There Was A Way” was his first album of the 90’s.

Still on my Country kick. This is the first one I had to play from Black Friday Record Store Day. The Dwight Yoakam box set.

The album “This Time” hasn’t been pressed on vinyl until now. I was so giddy putting it on the platter. It’s a fun listen that takes me back.

Major gear shift upcoming. He’s gone country!!

Starting with a new fascination I have with Colter Wall. This guy’s stuff is incredible. Sounds like a true throwback. “Little Songs” is the second Colter Wall album I have purchased, but not the last by a darn sight.

Catching up after being out of town for Thanksgiving…

Listened to Florence + The Machine “Lungs”.

Followed by The Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Psychocandy”.

A couple of really fun records to listen to. Fascinating stuff.

My morning was fruitful for Black Friday Record Store Day 2025.

Visited 3 stores in Fort Worth with my 17 year old, and enjoyed every single one of them!

Store 1: Record Town
Store 2: Panther City Vinyl
Store 3: Doc’s Vinyl and Vintage

Listening to the 50th anniversary release of “Horses” by Patti Smith. This one has been on my list for a long time, but I don’t want a cheap repress, and originals in decent shape are too expensive. Glad this version came along. Sounds good to me.

Final installment for the evening “The Gap Band 8”. What else can I say about the band, they bring quality music, and fun grooves. Does not disappoint.

“The Gap Band VII” continues the binge into the Greenwood Archer Pine Street Band for this Friday night. Another fun album.

Binging a certain band tonight. The Greenwood Archer Pine Street Band, later known as The Gap Band, is a geographical favorite of mine from Tulsa, in my state (for better/worse). Just fun to listen to. “The Gap Band II” is actually their fourth album. It’s a jam.

FINALLY. I have been waiting to listen to MoFi “The Stooges” for several weeks. This is a level of rock cool that I don’t belong in, fun to listen to though.

Side note: took a picture this time to include the wall, as I saw OK Go on Sunday and snagged a concert poster.

Another listen for the weekend. A Modest Mouse jam, resulting in a satisfying experience. “Strangers To Ourselves: The Golden Casket Vol. 1” is an album I initially passed over, but I have repent! After seeing Modest Mouse in concert several times, I was won over to it.

Last l one from last night. “Magicians Holiday” which is a grail for me. I may be the only one enamored with The Gap Band, but they are locals (Tulsa, OK), this first album was on a local label (Shelter), and recorded locally (Church Studio).

It’s also really good.

From our listening last night - my 17 year old and my 80 year old father listened to this with me! Neat because my dad has always had a decent taste in music*.

AJR “Living Room” was cool being acquainted with the early stuff to see their starting point for future stuff.

Folks! I’m so behind on my listening (and posting). I really enjoy sharing with those out there who follow, and see what you post!

Last night I listened to the fantastic “Weird Al” Yankivic ‘In 3D’ with my 17 year old and 10 year old. Always so fun.

This is the coolest! So glad I came across this at a local store. I love The Beach Boys’ music (a lot), but those vocals absolutely kill it. This was so much fun to listen to. “Pet Sounds-The Vocals Only” was made by a fan, who must have also been in love with sound.

At least Senator James Lankford is honest in his hypocrisy.

It may not please the old-school record heads, but I am super excited about these represses of albums that were unaffordable or unfindable.

Chris Isaak’s “Forever Blue” was a holy grail album for me, and now I have it. Such a great set of songs front to back.
