I wanted to share this article but Facebook would not allow it in Canada. The NYT allows subscribers to share up to ten articles a month. I am sharing. Now, I must tell friends and relatives that this is posted here.

Actor Jeff Daniels on Donald Trump’s 2nd term: “We’ve lost decency. We’ve lost civility. We’ve lost respect for the rule of law. We’ve normalized verbal abuse. We’re supposed to elect the best of us, not the worst of us. He’s everything that’s wrong with not just America but being a human being.”

An artist told me that when she painted flowers she tried to tell a complete story. She painted buds, flowers in full bloom and finally wilted blooms. I tried to accomplish this storytelling feat with this photo. And, she was right -- for instance, a photo of me today doesn't tell my whole story.

Posting a beautiful lily to test the Blue Sky waters for hits. I get very few if any interest from my posts. Very disappointing.

I have anti-vaccination relatives who like to point out Sweden does not have vaccination mandates. But, Sweden does not have a large anti-vax population either. Swedes listen to science.
Comparison
Vaccine Sweden (%) Canada (%)
MMR ~97 ~95–97
DTaP ~98 ~95–97
Polio ~98 ~95–97

When Isla was young, she liked to stick the bows from her Christmas and birthday gifts on Gug's head. I'm Gug. I'll explain later. Isla is now 12 and one tradition lives on. I think I am getting too old to wear colourful ribbons. In fact, I am too old for almost everything.

If you caught Pierre Poilievre's speech to the Conservative caucus, you would have heard him criticize Mark Carney for using the slogan "a slogan is not a plan." According to AI programmes, this phrase comes from political opponents (notably Pierre Poilievre and Conservative MPs) and NOT Carney.

Buying Canadian? Watch those labels. If it says Made in Canada, only 51% needs to be made in Canada. If it says Product of Canada, it is at least 98% made in Canada. Please share.

As a former newspaper photographer, setting up pictures was frowned upon. But when shooting granddaughters, I forget those rules. The kid was wearing her new hat and beaming with pride. I turned off the room lights, had her face a large picture window and look up to put catch lights in her eyes.

I took some visiting friends to see the Sifton Bog in London, Ontario. The usual shots of the bog are overall scenic pix. I tried to take in the whole scene, I looked at my feet and there were some pretty toad stools there.

Google Maps plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America once the U.S. government's Geographic Names Information System updates its designations.

The renaming applies to United States users, while users in Mexico will see Gulf of Mexico. International users will see both names.

Forgive me #photography group, but I had to post this. Yesterday was Christmas, a day late but it was still great. I was up at daybreak and Isla, my granddaughter, caught me doing my Christmas dance. Thank you Canadian doctors for keeping me alive despite my heart failure. (ezyZip compressed file.)

Three women out for a stroll to enjoy the biggest park in London, Ontario, Springbank Park. #photography I have now posted three photos and I am following a number of photographers but I am getting very little feedback. Hmmm . . .

#photography My f/stop was too small and the sharp detail in the background detracted from the two figures. Using Photoshop, I blurred the background to imitate a shallow depth of field. Is this legit? Today, with so many faked pictures, I am feeling this is no longer acceptable. Any arguments?
