November 25 marks 48 years since The Band’s Last Waltz concert at Winterland. Bob Dylan, Paul Butterfield, Bobby Charles, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood & Neil Young joined the Band on stage. Keyboard legend LEE MICHAELS (11/24/45) started with surf group The Sentinals, along w/ Johny Barbata (later w/ Turtles, Jefferson Airplane & Starship). In 1967, Michaels cut his debut album, Carnival of Life. His top single: "Do You Know What I Mean" (1967). He also did session work for Hendrix.

1984: The Black Crowes (aka Mr. Crowe’s Garden) form in Atlanta, GA. In 1989, they sign to Def American Recordings and drop Shake Your Money Maker. Many albums, tours, breakups, shakeups ensue over the years.
2024: They are back on the road.

1969: Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, NY, hosts The Woodstock Music & Art Fair. No one remembers the art, but everyone recognizes the music.

1997: Jean Michel Jarre plays to 3.5M in Moscow, to celebrate the 850th anniversary of the city. Some say it was the largest audience ever. Pre-Putin, for sure.

1962: Londoner Jim Marshall decides to build a new amp to meet local players needs for an alt to imported Fender amps. He gets repairman Ken Bran and "whiz kid" Dudley Craven to design the circuits plus Pete Townshend and Ritchie Blackmore to test it. Meet the JTM45.

1983: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is created by Ahmet Ertegun of Atlantic Records.
I986: Cleveland is chosen as future site of the museum.
1995: Museum is opened. Designed by famous architect I.M. Pei.

It is 1960, and Chubby Checker (age 20) covers Hank Ballard & The Midnighters' R&B song "The Twist" and takes it into rock legendarium.
