This morning, I asked Doug, "Is someone blasting Depeche Mode?" The air in the neighborhood was vibrating, but I couldn't tell what it was. It FELT 80s. After a few seconds, I heard a faint pleading, "Come on! Come on!" It was Stacy Q's Two of Hearts making the sidewalk shake at 10 am on a Saturday.

Look, if nothing else, FB just suggested that I check out a fucking CHEESE RAVE in NYC. April 17 apparently.
This is a geneic club add with silhouettes of people and a random charcuterie board of cheese in the corner. It's says "The World's First-Ever Late-Night Cheese Rave is Now Here." I went down to the first floor of the library, and glanced outside as I walked to the vending machine. There was a guy zipping by on what looked like hoverboard, clutching a huge tire. I wish him luck in midtown lunch hour traffic.

The second floor bathroom and hallway is still a work in progress, BUT the end is finally in sight AND we installed this amazing light switch plate today.
This is a black and white light switch plate with a cat raising two middle...fingers? Claws? Both back legs are in the air, and the switch is in a position that is suggestive of a penis.

I loved Chappell Roan’s VMAs performance, and I’m a renaissance fair fan, so I decided to try to do a Lego vignette take on a “courtly love” painting. A lady knight hands her love a token of her ardent affection before heading off on a potentially perilous journey and/or riding off into battle.

Lunch break nautical nonsense at the library with my skeleton bestie.
I put my 16 inch 3d printed Lego skeleton wearing a tricorn hat next to a shelf with unexciting sea related books at the library where I work. Some titles include "Pride of the Sea" and "North America's Maritime Museums."

I wanted to know if Doug wanted to go to the Lego store tomorrow, so I was texting, "Lego store tomorrow?" My phone changed it to, "Lego store tomato?" which made vast quantities more sense, obviously. Thank goodness for technology.

Another cat memory on FB. Nova was the grumpiest of Lego buddies. She excelled at unsorting pieces and sleeping on them.
My elderly tortie cat, Nova, who died in August 2022 at 21, is sleeping with her head resting on a tray mostly full of semi-sorted Lego pieces.

Jack memory on FB today. This is from 2020, after receiving a Chewy order. The cats were excited, and Jack was IN the box almost as soon as I had opened it and taken food out. Treats had spilled all over the bottom, which he was thrilled about.
My orange tabby cat, Jack, who died in July 2023 unexpectedly from likely cancer, is sitting in a box with a container of Temptation treats spilled at the bottom.

I'm going into my Brickfair building season without a furry Lego building buddy unfortunately. Miss my cat helpers.

Audacity. I had a package delivered while I was out, and as I got home, I saw a guy take it off my stoop. When I asked the guy what he was doing, he told me it was none of my concern. Ha! I got my package back, but only because I basically wrestled him for it.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

I got a random text today, so I responded.
A wrong number texted, "Hey, let's pretend we're organized and go conquer the world!" In an attempt to be witty, I responded, "Like, with a fully decked out day planner and cocaine?" The wrong number responded with 2 laughing/crying emoji.
