Had some delicious Turkey today!

(and the meat was pretty decent too)

Watching the ChatGPT Atlas video. Maybe it’s because Sam Altman has been in all the Sora things but all these people look AI generated.

This one hits hard for me. Ace was a legend and inspired so many guitarists. I am thankful to have gotten to see him many times, both in KISS and as a solo artist. He played loud, he performed with style and attitude, and he loved to have fun. Thanks for everything, Ace.

Most people think ZZ Top wrote La Grange about a brothel in Texas but it was actually inspired by this very sign on the Indiana Toll Road.

"Howe Howe Howe Howe."

I've seen Halestorm 16 times over the last dozen years, in 8 cities and 2 countries. Last night's show (Sioux City, Iowa) promoting their latest record Everest is among my favorites. They're definitely one of the great live rock acts of the last 20 years, in my (correct) opinion).

Well and now I’ve seen Lindsey Stirling. She is a very talented performer. A little Riverdance-y for my tastes.

I bought the Apocalyptica Plays Metallica on 4 Cellos CD nearly 30 years ago when it came out. This is the first time I've been able to see them live. This time opening the Halestorm and Lindsey Stirling and playing all Metallica. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a headline show soon. Very cool.

Houses of the Holy is a great, unique Led Zeppelin record. What can we can learn from it when making our own stuff? Leaning on fundamentals, embracing influence, and keeping authentic, human connection is more vital than ever in the era of generative AI.

What can the rich history of hip-hop teach us about human creativity? What lessons can we take and what parallels can we draw as we navigate the era of generative AI? Our latest story explores that, and more. Give it a read (or a listen) at Substack. rockandrollreclaimed.substack.com/p/hip-hop-an...

Just got to see Ozzy perform for the last time a little over 2 weeks ago in his hometown of Birmingham. Now he’s gone. Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath have been core to my life’s soundtrack since I was a teenager. That won’t ever change. Thank you, Ozzy!

I was lucky to attend the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, England this weekend to say goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. It was an amazing event filled with many great artists and tributes.

Brian Wilson was one of the greats, and a true inspiration to me. This story not only pays tribute to him and his musical genius, but also to his creative process and his willingness to take risks and try new things that were needed to make a great song and tell the right story.

Happy @recordstoreday.bsky.social to all that celebrate. Grabbed a few good ones! A nice, orderly queue at Vinyl Cup in #Omaha

Started strong and fought hard but Omaha couldn’t quite hang with Pitino's St. John's team. As a UNO alum I’ve been to a lot of games over the years starting at the UNO Field House in the 90s. I’m proud to have watched the Mavericks in the tournament for the first time. A special team. Go Mavs!

5 years ago today I was at the Chiefs' first (current era) Super Bowl parade in downtown KC. Weather was about the same.

I am certain I won't be able to fly to Birmingham in July for this show, but I'd sure like to.

Tried out Sora today. Apparently I'm a masochist as I had it make someone pouring a bottle of whiskey out on a vinyl record (my two favorite things). It's pretty wild what you can do with a single prompt. Needs work. I used about half my credits for the month getting it (mostly) right.

Maiden, Sabbath, and Zeppelin in one night? That's what we got in Omaha last night on the "King of the Monstours" tour with Zakk Wylde's Zakk Sabbath, Zoso, and The Iron Maidens. All three bands were fantastic. Well worth it if this tour rolls through your town.

Happy #Thanksgiving to those in the US. To get you in the spirit here’s a weirdly disturbing Thanksgiving scene courtesy of Apple Intelligence’s Image Playground.

These #vinyl “oven mit” things are the best $10 I’ve spent in a while. Cardboard on the finger side, a soft cloth on the record side. Flat for easy record insertion. So useful. I may never touch a record with my naked fingers again.

I'm spending Sunday evening with Lou!

Lou Reed Live (1975 - recorded in 1973) is sort of the little brother to the better known Rock n' Roll Animal. Still a great record featuring 3 tunes from Transformer as well as the Velvet's I'm Waiting for the Man. It's a good one!

Tonight's #NowSpinning - Kick Out the Jams, the raucous, rebellious, revolutionary, socially conscious 1969 debut from Detroit's #MC5. A live record for a debut? Why not? A studio couldn't capture them better.

Seems like the right listen for right now.

Kick out the Jams, mother f@%&kr!!!

Tonight I'm spinning the new vinyl release of The Pretty Reckless debut Light Me Up (2010). I've overlooked this release as it doesn't quite stand up to the band's later releases. But you can hear what Taylor Momsen would become on this record, even if it’s not fully formed. Vinyl sounds good too.
