Trustee Dominguez asks how can he rebuild trust/relationship w/ staff. Welsh says there needs to be opportunity to hear staff feedback and regular meetings with different district groups.

On to Qs. Trustee Biassotti asks what is the main reason behind profiency rates misalignment w/ grad rates. Welsh advocates ensuring advance coursework is available to all students.

He notes HS grad rates, new board and appointed trustees as strengths, but cites weakness such as the Lundy ES closure, using fed funds for teacher recruitment at vacation destinations.

Other ideas Anzalone hopes to bring to CCSD from his Wash. school district include
-a supt budget committee so "it's not just falling on a CFO, or it's not just falling on a superintendent, or the board"
-alignment among feeder schools
-program to help students entering kinder

Trustee Stevens Esparza-Stoffregen asks for his financial plan for district. Anzalone says he wants to look at the budget and see if there's areas where they can trim, particularly at the central office level "because my goal is to bring you a balanced budget."

Anzalone said he sees himself as an additional board member. His board prez was supportive of his application and said he'd be crazy not to do it.

And now Qs from trustees. 1st up, Trustee Isaac Barron. He asks what would the 1st 100 days w/ him would look like. Anzalone says he will be at school and the Legislature. He says because he is from CCSD, he doesn't need full 100 days to learn about the district
