I have been uploading a media watch on X this week following the Iran-Israel 12 day war. Two things that remain important, Iran's enriched uranium may have been moved, to be sold. This is a dangerous risk if sold to a rouge state like North Korea. Although the facilities for enrichment are damaged.

One theory is that the party plurality in the UK may reflect the diversity of a growing population in Britain, a more homogenous population and ideas, can reflect a more political homogenous population. This needs to be tested out with figures and polls.

On Local Elections: We are witnessing a period in history with the end of a two-party system in the UK, and plurality, like that of the continent of Europe may become a system of democracy that dominates future Elections again. We can return to the past, but this system will dominate for some years

Retaliatory Tariff's have risen since since this was published, but the power of leverage remains the intention, in the short-term, likely only to raise small gains for the USA.

www.thetimes.com/uk/defence/a... This is not a bad idea. In fact there is some pride to be taken in not accepting money and doing it ourselves in the UK. We may be smaller, but we can do things for ourselves. It is becoming too easy to accept foreign money into academic institutions.

I recall my studies in IPE and looking at oil production and how tariffs in the 1970s, coupled with lowering oil prices, global economic decline can help to stabilise what is now a growing global economic crisis.

My daily markets feed shows a decline in FTSE 250 & 100 for some weeks. This means UK markets opened at -2.5% this morning falling again to -4.8% in early morning trading. The German markets & US markets have had a shock, stabilising some of these will be a priority www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Government's can take IMF loans, we are heading for global recession with poverty expected to rise, unless a package is put in place. This can happen very quickly and sharply. Is this government as prepared as the one we had during Covid?

Tariffs mean restructuring, & in all sectors. Less money world wide impacts service dependant economies like the UK-in education service demand from international student may fall sharply, professional services, in all areas may fall in finance, & consultancy. UK Service sector =83% of its economy.

Tolerance in high degree is a sign of a healthy democracy. Outlawing one view or group can denote a need to silence a group for another. Socrates might agree that democracy on both the right and the left, have become too extreme to see the middle road and the need for balance.

Watching the markets today the FT250 and FT100 have fallen again, this time by 4.4%. The markets are saying no, that we should not stick to the original plan, and we are assuming that the economy can remain stable. Critical planning is now essential.

In analysing country economies you can use CPIH and ONS wider figures. They give different breakdowns of inflation. Analysts use a variety of inflation figures to describe what is going on in the economy. A GCSE student may say inflation is 2.8% but an political economist may use the full range.
