A river to my people.
Fridge is not a normal deep cleaning task to me. That’s a couple times a year plus whenever a spill forces your hand. Huge pain in the ass to unload and clean a fridge. Don’t let that tie itself to deep kitchen cleaning and make the whole thing seem impossibly time consuming.

So I think if the “clear the counters” level cleaning isn’t something you can easily do monthly at the outside, that’s a cue to reconsider how counter space is being used and what you have out. That says to me there’s too much congestion in those workspaces.

Yeah it doesn’t get that cold here anymore. Eastern Mass can have punishing cold snaps where we touch those temperatures but they don’t last. But with nights where the lows are just below freezing the house will only cool to about 62F before warming in the morning light.

Hence the two years of lying-in-wait. Believe me I tried to find anything we’d like remotely as much that would be less financially ruinous or more convenient in terms of timing. But this was a perfect fit the second I saw it. The fact nobody bought it the first time around was like a sign.

Downstairs can get pretty cold by 8 or 9. 63 or so. Upstairs not as bad.

I mean the house turned into a podcast character over the last year so I don’t mind. Relieved when people are like, “oh i get it”

I don’t think it has a ton. But in the summer the sun passes much more directly oven the house. With our tree cover that ironically means we get less direct sunlight that time of year. It doesn’t seem bad until you’re into the 90s or there’s a ton of still humid air

So we moved in after the worst heat waves but the nice thing is we have more shade cover in summer months and the house ventilates extremely well. I was really surprised how little we had to run the air. Dehumidifier in the downstairs was extremely necessary though

The original owner / builder put them in. I think they had 9 kids. Then the swingers bought it. So really, the house has always likely been the scene of an enormous amount of sex.

Our bedroom also has passive bio heating. Inefficient in terms of fuel and maintenance costs but even better than radiant heating imo.

Yeah I suspect it’ll be a challenge but so far with overnight lows just above freezing the challenge is mostly keeping the air fresh so we usually have to leave a window cracked that brings temps down to around 58 overnight.

Yeah. The Japanese Maple there damn near sold me on it by itself when I saw it in 23

I am not letting people convince me my panoramic windows are swinger coded.

So we are not sure. An arborist we had low confidence in said it looked like a redwood, from back when people were planting those back in the 50s or so.
