Well, it's a lovely book and your posts are truly a moment of joy in hard times. One last thing; this is my lovely Grandma - she was just as lovely as she looks. From memory the other photo is from when she was 12 (she wrote it on the back of the photo but I just have the digital copy now).

I finally took my copy to show my parents this morning. My mum and dad were really excited to see my Grandma's name in the book (Lillian Whitmore). I read quite a few to them and they enjoyed them. They are the perfect length for people that don't have a long attention span.

That's amazing! I didn't know any US states did that. We've had a 5c - and now 10c - container recycling program since 1977 in south Australia. We're proud of it - other states are only just starting in the last few years. Sorry, I know this was a tangent, I'm so sorry you lost such great people.

She's not wrong but.. funny she didn't mention the other big thing..ie it's sweet rather than savoury! I kind of love thinking about custard as a sweet gravy! Please tell me they have custard in the US?!

I don't play but the other day I thought - I don't listen to the radio and don't listen to much music at all so if I did play I could go far.. today in the shops "that song sounds familiar.. oh no!" So if I was or wasn't playing.. I'm gone now! Woolies, you're a billion dollar company, do better!

It's true that we have good gun laws but there are forces at work that want to loosen them. I'm so happy to see them talking already about tighter laws now.

It's terrible but most Australians were horrified by the nazi rally and one south African guy that was there and was on a work visa lost his right to work here and was deported. We're devastated by this attack. Sky news here is like fox and shouldn't be watched. They are terrible.

The most painful (in my face) theft I ever experienced in relation to pocket change was when my sister and I were walking to our seats at the back of a movie theatre. I had popcorn with $10 on top.. the note disappeared. I went back to look for it and someone must have seen me lose it and kept it.

Not in Australia.. we sometimes get commercial things that say Mom (like photo frames in the shape with the 'o' being the photo).. but very very rarely do we see mom here that is not in relation to US tv shows or something. My sister bought one once but she just bought it coz it was cheap!

We don't really do guns here in Australia (well, other than gangs and farmers, I guess; of which I am neither!) but it seems weird to me too.
