Portland’s Hawthorne Bridge around 230pm. There were also at least 15-20 city blocks’ worth of protesters marching in the city on streets leading to the bridge.

Just an absolutely perfect banh cuon in PDX. Delicate rice roll, light-as-should-be on the minced pork+sliced wood ear mushroom filling, nuoc cham w/good fish sauce on the side. Berlu Bakery, a little gem open Thu-Sun AM-3pm only.

It’s tomatoes-with-every-meal season. Also albacore is back in season in Oregon.
So there’s that.

I’ll bite. Did you know that in some places cheese makers literally follow the milk? As spring turns to summer and pasture in Diyarbakir, SE Turkey (his home base) dries up this artisan moves N with his cheese making equipment, finishing for the year in Sept, in the eastern Black Sea mountains.

It’s a miracle. We found the secret to soothing our nervous 12 yr-old pup who pants, drools, paces, and whimpers at even the hint of a storm: a Tropicalismo playlist.
Here he is snoozing through faint thunder, Jobim & Elis Regina on stereo.

Why are we still doing this.
June 15, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Exactly, thank you. In the USA (unlike Europe, where I lived till last spring) I literally feel like I need to protect myself from our homegrown MAHA nut jobs. And now I’ll be denied that.

Bless her Calico-ness! Gives me hope for our calico, a former feral. After long carrier training for a move involving a flight, she now goes absolutely insane at just the sight of one. After a year we’re still working on getting her to the vet.

Is anyone checking Signal chat groups for an explanation?

The state of our country sucks but spring in the PNW does not. What a spectacularly beautiful day in Portland.

George enjoys spring in the PNW.

I zoomed in on the PNW on the “Increasing Timber Production” map and omg.

Create a Problem in order to present the repulsive thing you planned to do all along as the Solution.
Who needs national forests and species diversity when you can ramp up timber production to “protect national security”?
