Brian Wilson was my favorite musician. I was lucky enough to see him play live many times. He will be missed.

Zulu was amazing. Caught my first coconut, and got two more.

The sneaux lived up to its name. Sara and I moved from Boston to New Orleans three years ago to avoid this kind of thing, but we’ve been thrilled seeing the kids, dogs, and cool people enjoying their first real snow storm. Glad I realized at the last minute that I did not get rid of my winter boots.

Celebrating the New Year by visiting Teotihuacan. Sara and I have a few more days in Mexico and then we head home to pick up our king cake from Bywater Bakery and march in our first parade with Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc. Happy New Year!

Listening to this on repeat. It is a great album, with a fascinating backstory. Really looking forward to the live show on Friday.

Saw one of the smallest lizards yet at the pool, a brown anole. He’s about the size of a dime. It is prime baby lizard season; they scatter at your feet on the sidewalks.

Just picked up tickets for this. Two of my favorite SF authors.

It’s glorious baby anole season. (Near the R in meter.)

Ah, the old forlorn cyberman.

Doing a deep dive into some of the Wold Newton books I missed. Farmer is an odd duck at times, but he taught me stories can be audacious and out of bounds.

Sara and I are in town to check in with the office. Grendel’s Den is always essential (but they keep changing the Sign, making my story “India Pale Angel” increasingly incorrect. “No Yuengling” is new.) The order of shitty beers shifted often. Basta.

Making some progress (not positive about the leaf)

My story “The Clockwork Heart of Heaven” in the latest issue of Interzone #299 started out as a series of artwork labels without any context. I abandoned that idea and made the context even more insane than the paintings. Sequel “The Architects of Soft Calamity” almost done.
