Maybe consider the town of Oakhurst. Full disclosure, I’ve never been there myself, but it sounds like it’s just a half hour from the south entrance to the park. My family and I visit from the SF Bay Area and so we’ve stayed in the town of Mariposa which, if I remember correctly, was fairly decent.
