Seb Coe getting 8 out of 97 votes for IOC reminds me of England’s doomed 2018 World Cup bid (2 out of 22 in Zurich). Laughable really.

Will reserve judgement until they play a game or two, but Tuchel emphasising physicality feels a bit retro. And is that a wise approach in 2026, when there's every chance that temperatures at a lot of venues are going to be roasting hot?

Was in Zurich in 2010 when Qatar being handed 2022 World Cup sent shockwaves around the world; today Saudi will be gifted 2034 World Cup with a resigned shrug. Remarkable really.

The noticeable thing about the fixture schedule is the number of games kicking off at noon, presumably for the benefit of TV audiences in Europe. PSG v Atletico in Pasadena in June could easily be a furnace. Ditto Bayern v Auckland in Cincy, Man City v Wydad in Philly etc.
The Club World Cup draw has been made and now the 32 teams know exactly when and where they are playing their matches.

And they can plot their path through the knockout stage too.
