Unashamedly woke progressive. No time for RWNJs. Lead guitar player. Big Steely Dan fan. Radiologist.
This is ridiculous. Israel is solely responsible for the strain in its relationships not just with Australia but globally. Netanyahu is a deluded, desperate and despicable despot. Australian response in fact too little too late.

The embracer of ‘neoliberalism’. An economic ideology concocted by think tanks funded by the wealthy that aimed to redistribute wealth to the elites at the expense of the masses. Has been all downhill since. Wealth inequality now through the roof. Trump the end result of neoliberalism.

The turning point for democracies of USA UK and AUS was the Reagan Thatcher era. The introduction of neoliberalism, an economic ‘theory’ concocted by the self motivated wealthy, embraced by conservatives and heavily promoted by Murdoch press.
The results were as intended:

Did you read the article? You understand why he opposed this development? As did the local ALP councillor as did a town planner from Griffith university. Criticism of his opposition to this dodgy development is as the town planner stated ‘disingenuous’.

This approach should apply to all our resources. Palmer Rinehart Forest and the multinationals are ripping us off and both major parties up till now seem ok with this. This fabricated idea of ‘sovereign risk’ if we dared demand a bigger share of the bounty is total BS. Look at Norway:

Effectively first home buyers have become slaves to the money lenders, a large % of wages consumed on interest on ever increasing home loans. Crazy house prices are destroying living standards and devaluing the worth of money. This graph says it all. The trajectory is unsustainable.

Daily smoking:
In 1991, 24% of people aged 14 and over smoked daily, but by 2022–2023, that number had dropped to 8.3%

It’s important to recognise the deliberate intention of neoliberalism in systematically unwinding the policy initiatives introduced in the early 1900s to counter wealth inequality. It’s tragic that it has come to this again.

Inequality in USA has reached early 1900’s levels - the robber barren era. Effective legislation was introduced leading to a golden era (esp for the middle class). Enter Reagan’s Neoliberalism - the brainchild of wealthy elites.

Neoliberalism was just another elitist economic con job. The start of the decline in those Western economies that embraced it.

Right wing authoritarians rely on ignorance and anger for votes. Cost of living crises a fertile source of anger which they channel to scapegoats to create division and further anger. Rise of fascism an indicator of failed economic policy. People were content in the 1980s. Before neoliberalism.
