Alright, after much futzing, I got it (mostly) working. This doesn't seem to work in Messages, but in other apps, it centers the frontmost window.

(I know this is built-in to Sequoia; I was trying to help someone who asked about it.)

And yes, there is a way: Click the … at top right and switch to list view.

TIL there's a setting for that!
