Well before the 1990s, Italy is where fascism was invented

It is way more than “nearly half” in Europe. Yeni Şafak is a conservative Turkish newspaper, I would take their poll with a grain of salt.

Time for Europeans to show a backbone, demand respect and stand up. Given what the orange felon has done in 1 year, the alternative is to become a bunch of scared colonies, particularly if he is then replaced by Vance.

Disgusting, cuts to support services for poor people, elderly, veterans, etc but he builds a ballroom and an Arc de Triomphe, makes hundreds of millions in crypto investment and makes his billionaire friends even richer.

Latinos, Blacks, Muslims and LGBT voting for the orange felon was nuts in the first place, now damage is done. I would actually add women to that, DIE protected them too. It makes sense that vote for him from these groups drops massively at mid-term.

This shows how ideologically brainwashed this administration is. Italy would never leave, it is a founding member of the original EEC and even Meloni sees the EU as necessary for security. Orban’s party is second in polls and elections are not far. Poland has been helped hugely by the EU.

Nope, far too nice with Trump and his security doc. Analysis is far simpler: he is advancing his MAGA nationalist white suprematist anti-immigration agenda on a world stage, anything on the way has to be crashed so Putin and far-right European parties are in, the EU is out.

Totally agree, “marketing” of all the good things the EU has done, and all the reasons why Europeans should stick together, should be a main activity of the European Commission. Against the hyper-active and increasingly organised far-right social media actors, it is an asymmetric war.

Europeans have to protect the EU against Trump, Putin, the idiotic nationalists within who are playing the two autocrats’ game, and a powerful far-right social media led by people like Musk. If they don’t, after potentially 12 years of Trump-Vance rule they’ll end up as colonies of foreign giants.

Unfortunately many Europeans feel more comfortable in being ruled by the USA or Russia than in being led by larger Europeans countries. Very short sighted.

Minor correction to the (well written and timely) article: France does have tactical nuclear weapons already.

Foreign leaders should start to stand up to that bully
November 1, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Even if that was true (big if given how much Russian disinformation is against him) isn’t that a fraction of what Trump and Putin are doing, while he also has to lead a nation at war against a much larger military power.

Unfortunately he has more nominations than all other candidates. We can only hope the committee gives them the value they deserve (i.e. zero). The Nobel peace prize would loose all its value if given to him.
