Listen, if your take is "Team X probably won't win" then you're almost always going to be right. But did anyone have the Pacers going to Game 7 of the Finals? It's okay to put together the best team you can and hope it works out better than expected. I'd rather that than constantly selling "hope."

Is it really a gamble? Turner was the best player on the market, at a position of need. Lillard isn't going to play. And him costing $20m on a $175m cap in a few years is bad...but if Giannis leaves, it doesn't matter anyway. They didn't trade any draft assets.

can you imagine how incredible the NBA would be with a 58-game regular season, and best of 5 in the playoffs? maybe more people would even watch each game, and it would make up for the lost ad revenue. somehow the NFL makes way more money with only 17 games.

Do you actually think Haliburton, and not Siakam, is their best player? He's the most famous, and flashiest, but you can't be this inconsistent and be the best guy. Siakam was great tonight, as he usually is.

Great point! Don't underestimate the purposeful scarcity of a super short season as well. Fans have as many chances to watch Shai in the playoffs alone than Mahomes all season.
