Listening to call recordings at 1.5x feels like everyone is over-caffeinated. It's intense.

I occasionally enjoy watching Somebody Feed Phil. It's like a Mr. Roger's version of one of the Bordain travel shows. Watching Phil's happy dance is two parts cheesy, and three parts adorables.

We should treat burnout like a repetitive strain injury: treat with rest and reducing chronic stressors.

1. Meaningful disconnection from work/interruptions
2. Cooling activities: walks, reading, meditation
3. Compression: smaller, achievable projects
4. Elevation: think about the big picture

AI companies have the advantage of selling intelligence to humans who themselves struggle to exemplify intelligence.

The children's series has found a new streaming home — Netflix, PBS stations and PBS KIDS will air new episodes on the same day. And Netflix will also run 90 hours from the Sesame Street library.
How to get to Sesame Street? Kids can now head to Netflix as well as PBS

Deluxe Paint was available for AtariST and Amiga in the 1980s, and was one of the most common sprite editors for games at the time.

What this site needs is more ads, one between each paragraph. Maybe a popup or three? Ah, now let's add a video in the corner!

Trust in content is interesting. I doubt that increasing the number of ads in content increases trustworthiness.

We were talking about the most stressful streaming series episodes, and the top two from recent memory: The Bear (Christmas episode), and The Studio (Oner episode).

Stories that produce that sort of intense emotion are interesting.

I have to say that the Mayo clinic sounds delicious. I suspect this is why I often trust their recommendations.

The computing cost of GPT style engines will change how we use them fundamentally. As the cost approaches zero, the number of stages of thought we can model will produce some interesting machines.

My son asked me about state machines. Very quickly he realized his mistake.

I'm on what I'm hoping is a short sabbatical to recharge and focus. What's the first thing I do? Cook, of course!

This week I'm making a batch of beef base for the freezer and chicken stock, in addition to some roast chicken for salads all week. Something about the kitchen is cathartic for me.

I love the idea of little apps on macOS for things like Mastedon or Bluesky. In practice, however, those little apps kinda suck.

I have a lot to say about machine learning tools, but to summarize:

It’s early.

It’s more interesting now compared to 25 years ago.

The tools that fall out of it will be incredible.

There is a lot less to fear than we think.

Look and dream about potential, and great things are possible.

It takes me about 2 weeks to recharge from burnout, and 2 days to return to it if I don’t manage my time carefully.
