I always thought it was one of the more painful Ed Wood ones. Some are bad-fun tho. I liked Glen or Glenda for laughs (and it's a bit shorter)

Well, if he meant the Maya in general, I got nothing except it was also considered kind of insensitive to film there at all.
If he meant the location tho, it might make you feel better that the city of Yaxha was abandoned by the Maya about 500 years before the Spanish, and only rediscovered in 1904.
